ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Delta Dental of New Mexico has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Touro College of Dental Medicine to help bring dental services to rural and underserved communities throughout the state.
The funding will help cover lodging expenses for dental students completing clinical rotations in New Mexico communities where access to dental care can be limited.
As part of Touro’s outreach program, third- and fourth-year dental students travel to rural areas and spend a week providing free dental care to community members while gaining valuable clinical experience.
Supporters say the partnership helps address barriers to care in communities that may have limited access to dentists and other oral health providers.
The grant is intended to ease the financial burden on students participating in the rotations while allowing the program to continue serving patients across New Mexico.
Delta Dental officials say the investment supports efforts to improve oral health outcomes and increase access to care for residents in underserved regions of the state.
