SANTA FE, N.M. — Santa Fe Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that damaged an occupied home and vehicle on the city’s south side Thursday night.
According to police, officers responded to the 1200 block of Senda Del Valle at approximately 9:42 p.m. after a ShotSpotter alert detected gunfire. While officers were en route, the Santa Fe Regional Communications Center received multiple calls reporting shots fired in the area.
When officers arrived, they found a residence and a vehicle that had been struck multiple times by gunfire. No injuries were reported.
Investigators canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses and surveillance footage and identified a red truck leaving the area shortly after the shooting.
Police say a nearby driver also reported being involved in a hit-and-run crash involving a red truck around the same time. According to investigators, the truck struck the vehicle and left the scene.
The department’s Crime Scene Unit recovered numerous shell casings and bullet fragments, which will be analyzed to determine whether the firearm or firearms involved have been connected to other crimes.
Detectives later located the red truck at the Cottonwood Village Mobile Home Community near Agua Fria Street and South Meadows Road. Investigators said the vehicle had been abandoned, and its license plate had been removed.
Surveillance video obtained by detectives reportedly shows the truck’s driver being picked up by another vehicle at about 9:54 p.m., shortly after the shooting occurred.
The investigation remains active as detectives work to identify and locate those responsible.
Anyone with information, surveillance video, or photographs related to the shooting is asked to contact Detective Cesar Ornelas with the Santa Fe Police Department.
