CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. — A man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he led deputies on a high-speed pursuit through Cibola County that reached speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour.
According to the Cibola County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began on Oct. 13 when deputies attempted to stop a pink Jeep in the San Fidel area while investigating a reported domestic violence incident.
Deputies said the driver initially failed to pull over when emergency lights and sirens were activated. Although the vehicle stopped briefly, authorities say the driver fled again, triggering a pursuit along State Road 124 toward Cubero.
Investigators said the chase reached speeds of approximately 100 mph on a two-lane roadway while vehicles were traveling in the opposite direction.
The pursuit ended on a gravel road near North Castillo, where deputies took the driver into custody.
Authorities identified the suspect as Adam Salazar. The vehicle was subsequently towed from the scene.
Salazar is facing several charges, including:
- Aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer
- Aggravated DWI (refusal to submit to testing)
- Driving while license revoked for a DWI-related offense
- Bringing contraband into a jail
The case remains under investigation.
