SANTA FE, N.M. — The New Mexico Health Care Authority is hosting virtual information sessions to help residents understand a series of upcoming federal changes to Medicaid that could affect eligibility, renewals, and coverage.
The first online session is scheduled for Oct. 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a second session on Dec. 8 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
According to the agency, the sessions will focus on new federal Medicaid requirements that are set to take effect beginning Jan. 1, 2027, including new work or activity requirements for many adults between the ages of 19 and 64.
Officials will also explain:
- New work and activity requirements and who may be exempt
- Changes to Medicaid renewal timelines, including more frequent eligibility reviews for some participants
- Changes affecting certain lawfully present immigrants
- New limits on retroactive Medicaid coverage for newly enrolled members
- Available job training, employment, and volunteer opportunities that may help individuals meet federal requirements
The sessions will include presentations from state officials and an opportunity for participants to ask questions.
The meetings are part of the state’s effort to prepare Medicaid recipients and community organizations for changes that could affect thousands of New Mexicans in the coming year.
Additional information, including registration links, livestream options, and details about other outreach events, is available through the state’s Keep Your Benefits NM campaign.
