Fort Sumner, NM (KKOB)- New Mexico State Police continues the manhunt for a man and woman who shot at an NMSP officer during a traffic stop in southeast New Mexico on Monday afternoon off U.S 285 near Fort Sumner. Fortunately the officer was not injured.
State Police identified the female suspect as Makaela Johnson who was with a who is unidentified.
Johnson has an outstanding warrants for several charges including:
• Conspiracy to Commit First-Degree Murder
• Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault Upon a Peace Officer with a Deadly Weapon
• Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery
The couple is considered armed and dangeroud and anyone who may see or run into them are urged to remain inside, lock doors and vehicles, and stay alert.
Do NOT approach and call 911 immediately.
