Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –The National Cemetery Association of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs informed the City of Santa Fe that they will not accept the controversial Soldier’s Monument, also known as the obelisk. This comes after the city’s governing body voted to direct the city manager to look into relocating the obelisk to the cemetery. The remnants of the obelisk are currently on display at the NM History Museum in downtown Santa Fe. The city will now focus on finding a new location that will meet the State Historic Preservation Office guidelines.
