Albuquerque, NM (KKOB)- Just before midnight Saturday, APD was called out to a severe crash with multiple injuries in the area of Coors Blvd and Bridge Blvd in Southwest Albuquerque.
AFR units on the scene reported three patients trapped and one patient outside of the vehicle. In addition, one vehicle had visible smoke showing but did not catch fire. A total of 12 units were dispatched to the scene to establish treatment, triage and transport operations. Due to the severity and amount of damage sustained in the accident, three patients needed to be extricated and all patients on scene had life threatening injuries.
According to APD, three victims were from one car and the fourth was the driver of a pick-up truck — all were transported to the hospital in critical condition. A 15-year old girl died at the hospital.
Investigators determined that a Ford Mustang was traveling south on Coors Blvd. at a high rate of speed. At Bridge Blvd, the Mustang ran through a red light hitting the passenger side of a GMC pick-up.
The 18-year-old driver of the Mustang was critically injured. He is in stable condition at the hospital. A 16-year-old female passenger suffered life-threatening injuries. The 15-year-old girl who died was also a passenger in the Mustang.
The driver of the pickup, a 24-year-old man, is in critical, but stable condition at the hospital.
