El Paso, TX(KKOB) – Businessman and philanthropist Fred Loya Sr. and the man behind Fred Loya Insurance has died. The company says Loya passed away on Saturday surrounded by his family in El Paso. From its beginnings in El Paso in 1974, the insurance provider grew under his leadership to more than 800 offices in 12 states including New Mexico. In 2023, it ranked as the 18th-largest Hispanic-owned and operated company in the U.S. Loya Sr was also recognized for his impact on the Latino community and his commitment to providing opportunities serving underserved communities.
