Kyle Steven Eckmann
Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –21 year old Kyle Eckmann, was arrested in August of 2025, after he had driven from Texas to New Mexico with a 15-year-old girl against her family’s wishes. When stopped by NM State Police, Eckmann said he had a gun and threatened to shoot the officer. Once in custody he told the girl not to talk to police. She was taken to a hospital and told officers that Eckmann allegedly threatened to kill her and her family if she didn’t go with him. Eckmann was charged with first degree kidnapping, child abuse, bribery of a witness, aggravated assault of a police officer and aggravated fleeing from a police officer. After spending 179 days in pretrial custody Eckmann reached a plea deal. His recommended 18 month sentence was suspended and instead he was given supervised probation with counseling and therapy required. Eckmann is to have no contact with his victim. He pleaded guilty to the aggravated fleeing charge, while the rest of the charges were dropped.
