Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –After the Hermits Peak/Calf Canyon fire and subsequent flooding caused system-wide outages and boil water advisories to the city of Las Vegas’ water, construction will begin this summer on a new water treatment plant for the area. The new plant will nearly double Las Vegas’ water capacity and ensure safe drinking water for generations to come. The current water treatment system is stable but is over 60 years old and in urgent need of replacement. The advanced treatment plant will serve a population of just under 15,000. Ground breaking on the new facility is expected to begin in late summer
