Bernalillo County, N.M. — Bernalillo County has appointed Heidi J. Fischer as the new director of its CARE Campus, a facility that provides behavioral health and support services for adults experiencing housing instability.
Fischer brings more than 20 years of experience in behavioral health leadership. She joins Bernalillo County from Presbyterian Healthcare Services, where she oversaw behavioral health practice operations across New Mexico.
County officials say Fischer’s background in managing large‑scale behavioral health programs will support daily operations and long‑term planning at the campus.
The CARE Campus, located on Zuni Road SE, serves as a central location for behavioral health care, medical services, and social supports. The goal of the campus is to connect individuals with coordinated services in one place.
As director, Fischer will oversee operations, staff leadership, and program development, as well as partnerships with community organizations.
Fischer is expected to begin her new role on March 2.
