Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –The former Whole Foods Market site on Carlisle and Indian School may soon be transformed into a Maverick Gas Station if developers get their way. Neighborhood associations however have voiced their opposition to the idea. Eric Kruger who represents a coalition of neighborhood associations in the area told KRQE they intend to oppose the proposal. “When you think about this area, there are three gas stations already at this location,” said Kruger. He says he’s hoping the area would instead be a mixed use commercial space with a variety of retailers occupying the space. The city of Albuquerque says it’s too early to tell what will happen with the property, since no formal paperwork has been submitted. Kruger says the first public hearings on the plans are expected to take place next month.
