Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A $1 million settlement was awarded to an Albuquerque family over a deadly fire during a SWAT operation that destroyed their home. KOB TV is reporting that Sundra Coleman’s family received $600,000 from Bernalillo County and $400,000 from the City to settle a lawsuit filed in 2024. In July of 2022 APD and BCSO deputies tracked a suspect to Coleman’s home and using tear gas canisters they attempted to try and remove the suspect out of the home. However the canisters started a fire that destroyed the family’s belongings and killed 15 year old Brett Rosenau and a family pet. The City previously settled with Rosenau’s family for $750,000
