ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – Albuquerque City Council meets tonight for its first session of the year, starting at 5 p.m.
Stephanie Telles will take her seat as the new District One councilor, representing the West Side. She replaces Louie Sanchez, who ran for mayor last year. KOAT’s political analyst Brian Sanderoff says the shift from a conservative Democrat to a more progressive member could make it easier for the mayor to advance his agenda.
Councilors are expected to vote on a rental practices ordinance that would require landlords to list all fees upfront and provide at least one no-cost payment option. They’ll also consider a resolution requiring quarterly operations reports from Albuquerque Police, Fire Rescue, and Community Safety departments.
