Las Cruces, NM( KKOB) – A 17-year old Las Cruces teenager will continue to spend time behind bars for a shooting that killed another man at a house party.
Kenneth Perez, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Lance Chavez, and faces three counts of aggravated battery after three bystanders were also injured during the shooting.
Doña Ana County District Attorney, Fernando Macias, argued Perez is a danger to the community, saying he fired several shots during the party last month and should remain in jail until his trial.
District Judge Thomas Stewart agreed, ordering Perez held without bond. His next court hearing is scheduled for January.
