SAN MIGUEL COUNTY, N.M. – New Mexico State Police are actively searching for Michael Shawn Nicholls, who is wanted for first-degree murder following a homicide in the Tecolote area.
Investigators say the incident happened on December 20, 2025, around 8:20 p.m. Agents with the State Police Investigations Bureau responded to the scene and later issued an arrest warrant for Nicholls.
Nicholls is described as:
- Age: 55
- Race: White male
- Height: 5 feet 6 inches
- Weight: Approximately 180 pounds
- Eye Color: Blue
Authorities warn Nicholls is considered armed and dangerous. The public is urged not to approach him.
