Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –The Town of Bernalillo will unveil its first baby box today (Wed) with a dedication and blessing happening at 3pm. The Safe Haven baby box is at the Bernalillo Fire Department on South Camino del Pueblo Rd. The town’s Facebook page says the box is more than just a physical structure; it symbolizes a promise of safety and a fresh start for babies in need. The baby boxes are an opportunity for mothers in crisis to surrender their babies anonymously. The climate-controlled box has an alarm system to alert those in the fire department when a baby has been left in the box. A baby box will be coming to Fire Station 12 near Central and Juan Tabo in Albuquerque but no date on when the box will be available.
