Albuquerque, NM(KKOB)- For the next three weeks drivers who come and go from the South Valley will be dealing with delays on Rio Bravo Blvd, as more work on the road will cause lane closures at Second Street. From now until December 30th, one eastbound lane will be closed at the intersection. As News Radio KKOB had reported earlier, the project is all part of the Bernalillo County extension of Rio Bravo from four to six lanes. The road project also includes creating a new railroad crossing and adding pedestrian and ADA compliant facilities along the route. The other project in the same area, is the widening of the Rio Bravo bridge also to six lanes. That project is run by the New Mexico Department of Transportation. The road portion of Rio Bravo should be completed by March of 2026.
