Albuquerque, NM(KKOB) – We now know which teams will be playing in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl this year. The Aztecs from San Diego State will take on the Mean Green of North Texas University in Denton, TX during the December 27th bowl game at University Stadium. Kick off for the game is set for 3:45 p.m and the game will be televised live on ESPN nationally.
North Texas, will be the first team ranked in the Top 25 to play in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl, after being ranked at number 25 in the final College Football Playoff Selection Committee poll. The Mean Green, finished their regular season at 11-2 and lost to Tulane in the American Athletic Conference championship game.
San Diego State, is representing the Mountain West Conference after ending the regular season at 9-3, including a loss in Albuquerque to the Lobos. The Aztecs along with New Mexico finished in a four-way tie for first place with UNLV and Boise State.
Bowl executive director Jeff Siembieda said these are “Two really well-rounded teams, who are in the midst of great seasons.”
Siembieda they were very interested in having the Lobos play in Albuquerque this year, but he says he is happy to see the Lobos go to Phoenix to play in the Rate Bowl against the University of Minnesota.
