Albuquerque, NM(KKOB) – A 22-year old Albuquerque mother was in jail Friday morning after her arrest for allegedly driving drunk and crashing into a tree while her toddler was inside the car.
Shayla Poncho, was arrested by New Mexico State Police following the accident when she tried to run from the scene of the accident, on Gibson and Florida SE, and leaving the child in the vehicle.
Officers from the Albuquerque Police Department and State Police found several open containers of alcohol in the vehicle. Poncho was then taken to the hospital where according to police, she became irritated and allegedly punched an officer.
She is charged with Child Endangerment and DW. The child was released to Poncho/s grandmother.
