Albuquerque, NM(KKOB)- Property owners in Bernalillo County only have a few more days to pay the first half of their 2025 property taxes before late fees begin to accrue.
According to a county press release, property taxes become delinquent if not paid on or before Dec. 10. If not paid by the delinquency date, penalty and interest charges will be applied. A “1% penalty of the unpaid property tax will be imposed for each month a payment is late.” according to the press release. The penalty accrued cannot be less than $5 and cannot exceed 5% of the total taxes owed. An interest charge of 1% of the base tax due will also accrue until the amount owed is paid.
“Our priority is to ensure every property taxpayer is well informed about upcoming due dates,” says Bernalillo County Treasurer Tim Eichenberg.
Full payments for 2025 property taxes are also being accepted. Any property owner who is paying in two installments, the second half payment is due April 10, 2026, and property taxpayers will have until May 10, 2026, to pay before penalty and interest begin to accrue.
