Las Cruces, NM (KKOB) – A Las Cruces man is facing federal charges after his arrested by the FBI for drug trafficking. 59-year old David De La Paz was arrested on February 5th after a search warrant was executed at his home in Las Cruces by the FBI Safe Streets Gang Task Force and the Las Cruces/Doña Ana County Metro Narcotics Agency. According to court documents, an investigation against De La Paz and other members of a drug trafficking organization operating in the Las Cruces area. When agents entered the home they found De La Paz inside his bedroom with an AR-15 rifle on the bed.
The arrest also led to the seizure of cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and several firearms most of them inside the bedroom.
He will remain detained pending a detention hearing, which has not been scheduled. If convicted of the current charges,
De La Paz faces 25 years in prison.
