ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – A New Mexico grand jury has indicted actor Timothy Busfield on four counts of criminal sexual contact of a child, according to the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office.
Officials say the charges stem from allegations involving two young boys who appeared on The Cleaning Lady, a Fox television series that Busfield both directed and acted in. Investigators allege the incidents occurred multiple times on the Albuquerque set between late 2022 and spring 2024.
Busfield, 68, has denied the accusations. His attorneys argue the claims are part of a retaliatory effort by the boys’ parents after the children lost their roles on the show. A Warner Bros.–commissioned independent review reportedly found no evidence to corroborate the allegations.
During a recent detention hearing, the district attorney’s office described the children’s accounts as specific and detailed, while a crew member testified that he witnessed no inappropriate contact on set.
A judge has released Busfield on his own recognizance while the case moves forward. Prosecutors say the matter will continue through the judicial process, with no additional details being released at this time.
