ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – Bernalillo County is accepting submissions from New Mexico artists for a new public art installation planned along Bridge Boulevard in the South Valley. The project will place mosaic-style artwork on six concrete monuments in the roadway median between Coors Boulevard and Luray Place SW.
The county’s Arts Board will commission selected artists to design and install tile mosaics on the monuments, each standing about 2 feet, 8 inches tall and 3 feet, 8 inches wide. The pieces are intended to reflect the identity, history and culture of the surrounding neighborhoods. Artists may incorporate local themes, including neighborhood association names or other community messages visible to both pedestrians and drivers.
The total budget for the project is $25,000, covering all design work, materials and installation. Chosen artists will collaborate with county staff and engage with community members during the design phase to ensure the artwork aligns with the character of the Bridge Boulevard corridor.
This call for artists is open to individuals residing anywhere in New Mexico.
