Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) – Jury selection begins today in Santa Fe on New Mexico’s lawsuit against Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta.
New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torez filed the suit in 2023, alleging that Meta failed to protect children against sexual predators or exposure to sexual content and that the platform is a breeding ground for predators.
The suit claims Meta knowingly exposes children to sexual exploitation and mental health harms. Meta denies the allegations and says they have taken every necessary precaution to assure the safety of children.
The trial in Santa Fe is expected to take six weeks
