Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Gas prices across New Mexico continue to decline as the official Independence Day holiday travel period begins Saturday, June 27.
Millions of travelers are expected to hit the road during what AAA projects will be a record-breaking holiday travel period.
According to AAA, the statewide gas price average is $3.92 for a gallon of regular unleaded. That price is nine cents less when compared to this day last week and is 86 cents more per gallon when compared to the same day last year.
Around the state, drivers in Farmington are paying the most on average at $4.38 per gallon while drivers in Las Cruces are paying the least at $3.73 per gallon. In the Duke City, the average price per gallon is $3.83.
“Gas prices continue to move in a direction most drivers will appreciate as the official Independence Day travel period begins this weekend,” said Daniel Armbruster, spokesperson for AAA New Mexico. “While fluctuations are always possible during a busy holiday travel period, lower crude oil prices are supporting the overall downward trend, which is excellent news for the millions of travelers preparing to hit the road.”
