Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – The family of 32-year-old Ashley Griego has sued Lovelace Women’s Hospital for wrongful death, alleging that medical malpractice, including the administration of contraindicated medication, caused her death during a 2023 labor induction.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that this lawsuit is among at least 23 filed against Lovelace since 2011 alleging that the hospital’s labor and delivery unit prioritizes profit over patient safety, with reports citing issues like delayed C-sections and unqualified staff making critical decisions.
In a statement Lovelace responded “We remain committed to providing safe, high-quality care to every patient we serve,” according to spokesperson Whitney Marquez. “However, we are unable to share further details on pending legal matters.”
