Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – The 16-year old male teenager arrested and charged with Vehicular Homicide and leaving the scene of a crash, will remain detained in the juvenile detention center after appearing before a judge. The teen who is not identified because he is a minor is charged in the crash that happened Monday in the South Valley where a man identified as Richard Candelaria was hit and killed while walking in a marked crosswalk at Coors and Sage.
The driver of the vehicle ran a red light at the intersection when he hit Candelaria, then took off and tried to hide the vehicle. Thanks to witnesses, they were able to give sheriff’s deputies a description of the vehicle and license plate number which helped find the teen and take him into custody.
