Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A prescribed burn is planned for the Lincoln National Forest beginning this week. Fire crews will begin treating about 158 acres as part of a plan to reduce accumulated vegetation ahead of future wildfire threats. Two prescribed pile burns are planned in the Sacramento and Smokey Bear Ranger districts if weather permits and could run through the end of September. No closures are planned although visitors in the areas are urged to watch for firefighters and equipment. Smoke could be visible in the area and drivers encountering smoke should reduce their speed, turn on headlights and use hazard lights when visibility is significantly low.
