Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) -Albuquerque Fire Rescue had a busy Saturday responding to several calls including a house fire Saturday night, an apartment fire in the afternoon and a hiker rescue early Saturday night.
Saturday around 8:40 p.m. fire crews responded to the 10000 block of Barbara Ellen Ave NE for reports of a structure fire at a single-family dwelling.
Once units arrived on scene they reported a working fire with smoke and flames coming from the garage.
The fire was brought under control within 18 minutes of their arrival. Damage to the structure was contained to the garage with minor smoke damage to the interior of the residence. Two individuals were medically assessed on scene and no other injuries were reported. One occupant was displaced and did not require assistance from Red Cross. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.
Just befor 8 p.m. Saturday, AFR was dispatched to the Embudo Trailhead for a report of an injured hiker.
AFR crews and APD Open Space was notified and responded to assist with search and rescue operations.
AFR Rescue Team 1 made rapid patient contact and assessed a left‑ankle injury. The injury was stabilized, and the patient was transported to the hospital.

Saturday afternoon just after 1:30 p.m., Albuquerque Fire Rescue was dispatched to an apartment complex at 2817 Muriel St. NE for reports of a possible structure fire.
Once units arrived on scene light smoke was coming from the first floor.
The fire was brought under control within 14 minutes of their arrival. Damage to the structure was mostly contained to the apartment of origin with minor extension into the adjacent apartment. No injuries were reported but four occupants were displaced, as two apartments were affected. Red Cross and management were providing help to the occupants. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. #abqfirerescue
