Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –PNM customers will soon be getting smart meters allowing customers to track daily energy usage in more detail. PNM says the technology will help address a meter-reader shortage the company has faced in recent months. Smart meters will give customers real time energy use data allowing them to see how to use energy more efficiently and ultimately saving money on energy. The new meters will begin appearing late this year. PNM says all customers will eventually get a new smart meter and they don’t have to do anything to sign up for one.
