Albuquerque, NM (KKOB)- A 64-year old Albuquerque man is in jail accused of killing his son Sunday night in northwest Albuquerque. Mark Leib, is now at MDC under an open count of murder in connection with the death of his son 34 year old Matthew Leib at a home on the 6200 block of Sabre Court NW just west of 4th St near Osuna.
According to APD, the son was with his girlfriend and another friend at the home when Mark Leib returned home from work and threatened to kill someone. The girlfriend convinced the father to go into his bedroom but he later came out armed with a shotgun. The girlfriend said she tried to get Mark into a bathroom, but he then kicked the door open and grabbed her shirt with one hand while with the gun in the other hand. She told police she punched him in the chin, and he punched her in the face and threatened to kill her.
Matthew’s girlfriend and friend left the house and when they returned to look for Matthew, his father exited the house and said that he killed his son.
A neighbor called 911 and deputies from BCSO responded initially then APD officers arrived and confirmed that Matthew was dead at the scene.
Mark Leib is charged with an open count of murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
