Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A decision has been make as UNM School of Law Dean Camille Carey will continue serving in her role after being reappointed by Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Barbara Rodriguez. The reappointment takes effect July 1, 2027 and follows a formal review process conducted under university policies. The decision comes as several community members asked the university not to renew Carey’s contract over concerns that out-of-state admissions were outpacing in-state admissions. Rodriguez said in a statement, “As Provost, I remain committed to working with Dean Carey and the entire School of Law community to strengthen the School, support its mission, and ensure it continues to serve the people of New Mexico with distinction.” Carey has served as dean since 2022 and oversees more than 30 faculty and approximately 300 students.
