Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – A man accused of fatally beating another man with a baseball bat will remain in custody as his case moves through the court system. According to Albuquerque police, Darren De Herrera was involved in an altercation outside a smoke shop on San Pedro Drive Southeast on June 11. Investigators say De Herrera repeatedly struck Dwayne Burwell with a baseball bat during the confrontation. Burwell died three days later from his injuries. De Herrera was later arrested and charged in connection with the case.
A judge ordered that he remain at the Metropolitan Detention Center pending trial.
