Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –APD released details on Thursday about an officer involved shooting that occurred on May 29th involving Robert Salas. APD officers approached the Castle store after an employee requested individuals loitering outside be removed. As officers arrived several people began leaving the area. One individual, Robert Salas ran from officers and headed north to the parking lot of a vacant Walgreens building. One officer pursued Salas on foot and a second officer drove into the parking lot. Salas then appeared to hide behind a pillar of the building. He was asked to stop and put down his knife by officers. Salas then charged one of the officers with the knife and he was shot. Salas died on scene.
