Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A reminder to all drivers who’ve been navigating the I-25 construction project–beginning as early as this Sunday significant traffic delays will occur with the beginning of the demolition of the Montgomery Blvd bridge. According to NMDOT the stretch of the interstate will look completely different by next week with north and southbound lanes closing completely for about five days. Demolition work will take place overnight from 8pm to 6am and drivers are being warned to expect significant delays and plan for alternate routes off of I-25. A map provided by NMDOT indicates drivers will be detoured off the interstate and onto the Pan American Frontage Road at the Montgomery Boulevard off-ramps. Drivers will then be able to re-enter the freeway using the on-ramps. For eastbound Montgomery traffic an alternate route will detour traffic to Comanche Road through Carlisle Blvd and Jefferson Street. For westbound Montgomery, traffic will be detoured via Culture Drive and Edith Blvd.
