Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – An Albuquerque man is in jail in connection with a fatal crash where a man riding a bicycle was killed over the weekend. Brent Curley was arrested shortly after the crash that happened around 6:15 a.m. on Saturday June 20, in the area of Central Ave and Maple St. in southeast part of town.
A criminal complaint indicates that a vehicle driven by Curley had entered the ART bus lane, cut between two bicyclists and hit one of them. The victim was taken to the hospital but he died of his injuries. Police report that Curley’s vehicle had accelerated just before the crash. Court records indicate that Curley denied having consumed alcohol and refused to take a field sobriety test.
He is now charged with vehicular homicide, and other charges and without bond.
