Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – An Albuquerque Police Officer is being charged with several crimes related to a road rage incident that happened while he was off-duty.
Officer Shawn Ginn, was indicted by a grand jury with multiple criminal charges stemming from the incident that happened in March.
According to the investigation, Ginn was off duty and riding as a passenger in a personal vehicle near Paseo del Norte and Universe Boulevard when he was involved in a traffic crash with another vehicle. Police say that after the crash, Ginn, who was not in uniform, approached the driver of the other vehicle, a female driver, and forcibly removed her from her car, slammed her against her vehicle and pulled her arm behind her back. The woman sustained bruising to her face and other injuries during the encounter. Several passing motorists stopped and recorded portions of the incident.
According to the indictment, at the scene, Ginn told witnesses that he believed the woman was intoxicated. Subsequent investigation determined that the woman was not impaired.
Ginn is now charged with
False Imprisonment
Aggravated Battery (Misdemeanor)
and several other charges.
The case will now proceed through the judicial process.
