ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police are clarifying that a suspicious death investigation and recent SWAT activity are not connected.
The suspicious death investigation began after human remains were discovered at a property in the 700 block of 72nd Street NW. Detectives are working with the Office of the Medical Investigator to confirm the identity of the person. At this time, the cause of death has not been determined.
Separately, APD’s SWAT unit executed search warrants at two locations — one in Rio Rancho and another in the 3900 block of Lafayette NE in Albuquerque.
Police say those search warrants are tied to an ongoing investigation unrelated to the death investigation in northwest Albuquerque.
Both cases remain active, and authorities say additional information will be released as it becomes available.
