Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Albuquerque police has made an arrest in connection with the bat beating of a man near a smoke shop in Southeast Albuquerque on June 11th. 30-year old Darren DeHerrera was arrested yesterday for the death of 45-year old Dwayne Burwell. Police were called to the 100 block of San Pedro near a smoke shop regarding a man who had been beaten with a baseball bat. Burwell was taken to the hospital where he later died three days later.
According to police reports, he had been struck several times with the bat receiving multiple skull fractures, spine fractures and many other injuries throughout his body.
DeHerrera is being held without bond at MDC
