Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A major phase of the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project will be getting over $75 million for a construction contract from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. The contract covers construction of the pipeline segment that begins at the Frank Chee Willetto Reservoir, 17 miles east of Shiprock, and extends to the San Juan Lateral Water Treatment Plant, currently under construction in the Hogback Chapter area of San Juan County. When completed, the long-running project will provide reliable drinking water to communities across the Navajo Nation as well as the city of Gallup. Construction under the new contract is scheduled to begin this summer and continue through Fall 2028.
