Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) – New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez has asked a federal judge to throw out a lawsuit filed by the U.S Department of Justice over the states new Immigrant Safety Act which was passed earlier this year by the state legislature. The new law, prohibits any state or local government or law enforcement from making any agreements with ICE for immigration violations. Torrez says that the law doesn’t violate federal laws and that the federal government can do it’s job by detaining immigrants in their own facilities. No dates set for the legal actions.
