Las Cruces, NM (KKOB) – A 27-year old former Pre-K teacher in Las Cruces is arrested on seven counts of intentional child abuse against a boy at a childcare and development center.
Jennifer Hernandez, was arrested by Las Cruces police, after the Doña Ana Sheriff’s Office had started an investigation when the parents of the child, who lived in the county, made the initial complaint last month.
LCPD received video from inside the Discovery Development Center in Las Cruces and saw several incidents of physical abuse including Hernandez allegedly picking up a chair and hitting the boy with it, slap the boy several times, and hit him in the face and head with a pointer at least twice.
LCPD detectives say that the ownership and management of the Discovery Development Center have been cooperative with the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
