Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — As a stretch of hot weather settles over New Mexico, state health officials are raising concerns about heat-related illnesses. The Department of Health says approximately 770 people have sought emergency treatment for heat-related conditions this year, already exceeding last year’s total. Officials say anyone can be affected by extreme heat, but older adults, children, outdoor workers, and people with underlying health conditions face a greater risk. Health officials to encourage residents to stay cool, drink plenty of water, and avoid prolonged exposure to the heat.
