Las Cruces, NM (KKOB) – The former treasurer of the Republican Party in New Mexico, arrested last month in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash in Doña Ana County, pleaded not guilty to her charges.
54-year old Kimberly Ann Skaggs, was arrested on June 24 in connection with the hit-and-run crash two days earlier, where a bicyclist identified as 40-year-old bicyclist Andrew Brown was killed.
She is charged with leaving the scene and tampering with evidence, according to court documents.
Police documents show Skaggs allegedly was driving fast in the area near Fairacres in Doña Ana County. According to a witness Skaggs got out of the vehicle just after the collision and then fled from the scene. Police say that after the crash, she tried to hide the vehicle from authorities.
