Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – An Albuquerque man will be serving nearly 40 years in prison for the death of a 6-month old baby who was exposed to multiple illegal narcotics. Lawrence Gabaldon received a 38-year sentence for the baby’s death which happened nearly 3 years ago in July of 2023. On that day, an APD officer was flagged down at a motel on Iliff Road in the northwest part of the city. Despite life saving efforts the baby girl was pronounced dead in the motel room. Her twin sister survived, but medical testing confirmed that both children had been exposed to multiple drugs including meth exposure. In March of this year, a jury convicted Gabaldon of Reckless Abuse of a Child Resulting in Death, Abuse of a Child, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Fentanyl, and Trafficking Controlled Substance
In May of 2024, the baby’s mother, Gloria Tesillo, was convicted for her part in the death of her baby.
