ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Four residents were displaced after an accidental apartment fire Sunday afternoon in northeast Albuquerque, according to Albuquerque Fire Rescue.
Fire crews were dispatched just before 1:40 p.m. on July 12 to a two-story apartment complex on Muriel Street Northeast, near Candelaria Road and Juan Tabo Boulevard, following reports of a possible structure fire.
When firefighters arrived, they found light smoke coming from a first-floor apartment and immediately began fire suppression efforts.
Crews conducted a search of the building to ensure all residents had evacuated safely while firefighters ventilated the structure and worked to keep the fire from spreading to other units.
Albuquerque Fire Rescue said the fire was brought under control within 14 minutes of crews arriving on scene.
Officials said most of the damage was confined to the apartment where the fire originated, although a neighboring unit sustained minor damage.
Two apartments were affected by the fire, displacing four residents. Two of those residents are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross and property management.
No injuries were reported.
Fire investigators determined the blaze was accidental.
