Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Central Avenue has reopened in both directions in downtown Albuquerque as demolition work continues on the former Bliss Building. City officials say the project remains on schedule after crews made significant progress tearing down the structure. Fifth Street, however, will remain closed during the remainder of the demolition. The city ordered Lindy’s Diner to close in April over structural concerns. A week later, part of the building’s front facade collapsed, and asbestos was later discovered inside. The city says nearby businesses remain open and accessible throughout the demolition process.
