SANTA FE, N.M. — A Santa Fe man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty in the fatal stabbing of his wife last year.
According to New Mexico State Police, Servando Castillo Lujan was arrested following the death of Minerva Marquez Dominguez at a residence on Agua Fria Road on April 12, 2025.
Investigators determined that an argument between the couple escalated and ended with Lujan fatally stabbing Dominguez. State Police said Lujan later contacted a family member and reportedly admitted to killing his wife.
Lujan was initially charged with first-degree murder and booked into the Santa Fe County Detention Center.
On July 8, 2026, Lujan pleaded guilty to second-degree murder as part of a plea agreement. A judge sentenced him to 18 years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections, followed by two years of parole upon his release.
State Police said the case was the result of an investigation conducted by the agency’s Investigations Bureau in partnership with prosecutors and other criminal justice agencies.
