Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –PNM customers in the far Northeast Heights could soon be asked to conserve energy during high usage times of the day. The area of town includes a stretch of Paseo from Louisiana to the Foothills, and Tramway south to Spain. The peak times to conserve energy would be 4pm to 9pm. PNM is recommending setting air conditioning thermostats a few degrees higher, delaying the use of major appliances and turning off unnecessary lights during peak hours. PNM says the request is tied to long-standing capacity issues and lack of approval to build a new substation in the area.
